Today's Outfit - Happy New Year!

Just a trip to get groceries today.  A quiet evening in tonight for the two of us.  We'll have steaks on the grill and baked potatoes for dinner and carrot cake later for desert while watching a movie.  Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year!

I tried a few fairly new things (for me) today:  I dabbled a little in mixing blacks and browns; belted my sweater; tucked pants in boots.  Ooooh, I'm living on the edge. haha

Thrifted Items:  Red pants $2.50 Liz Claiborne, black turtleneck, tan sweater, brown belt $1.60, scarf, brown/black bracelet, brown suede/leather boots.
Lipstick = Wet n Wild Mega Colors in Berry Crush and Neutrogena Moisture Shine Gloss in Nutri Berry #130

Today's Outfit (Monday 12/26) Bursting At The Seams

(I'm a day late posting this.)
Today I did some thrift shopping.  Hair in a bun, comfortable shoes...and off I went to spend a couple of hours at Goodwill.  They were having all colored tags on sale for 50% off, except blue tags which were only 99 cents.  Here's what I got for $44.29.
3 pr. dress shoes - 1 of which is Anne Klein
2 purses
13 tops/sweaters - 1 is a black cardigan w/ faux fur black detachable collar which I'm hoping I can us on other things.
I got some really good bargains!
I'm going to have to weed through my clothing and choose some older things I rarely, if ever, wear to re-donate so I can make room for the new.  It is difficult for me to part with clothing though.  I'm going to really have to ask myself if this is one of my favorite pieces and evaluate how long it's been since I've worn it...and then let my least favorite unworn items go.
I am fortunate that when we moved into this rental house the second bedroom was already equipped with storage organizer units (hanging and shelving) along both long walls.  This is in addition to a fairly large closet with shelving where I keep my shoe and scarf collection.  When we were shown this house for the first time and I saw this room I was ecstatic! haha  So I have this whole room for all my things and desk for computer, makeup mirror, etc. and John has the whole other bedroom closet to himself.  Needless to say, that over the last year and a half of thrift shopping I have managed to fill up every available space in this more than adequate room.  It's time for a mild purge.

Thrifted Items:  Brown jeans, brown hooded zip up sweater, rust tank top, purse $2.50 Nine West.

Christmas Day Outfit - Mission Impossible

John and I decided to go to the movies on Christmas Day.  We saw Mission Impossible.  It was fun and action packed.  More people than we'd expected were at the movies though.  We went last year on Christmas Day too, but it was nearly deserted.

Thrifted Items:  Jeans, red sweater, red/white striped top $4.99 Jamaica Bay.
Earrings are difficult to see, but they're green leaves w/red Christmas bells.  Have had these for many years.

Today's Outfit - Accidental Match-Ups

I'm probably one of those people that tends to be way too "matchy" for today's trendsetters.  For example, I don't recall ever wearing brown boots/shoes when wearing predominantly black in my outfit and vice versa.  I want to try it sometime, but just haven't yet.  This is something I don't really stress about.  I just wear what I like and what appeals to me, but do want to try new things too.
So I happened to randomly purchase (on two different shopping trips) this purse and these shoes.  Then  I realized while putting together this outfit that these almost totally match!  And I liked it so I wore it.

Thrifted Items:  Red Pants $2.50 Liz Claiborne, beige crocheted top, red turtleneck, scarf, shoes $4.50 Lisa & Vicky, purse $2.50 Nine West.

Today's Outfit - Wrap it up With a BIG Bow

 Okay, so here's what happened...
I got bleach stains on this brown sweater by leaning over the washer where I'd evidently spilled bleach and didn't know it.  I really liked this sweater and had only had a chance to wear it a couple of times.  But...being that I only paid about $4 for it, I didn't want to pay more money to buy dye (plus I've never tried dying before and wanted to avoid any other potential disasters that I might incur with that process) so here's what I did.  I had this shirt I thrifted for 99 cents.  I bought it because I liked the sheer fabric, the sleeves, lace at the neck, and the colors, but it had flaps that went down to my knees and I didn't like the length.  So I cut off the flaps and used the excess fabric to make a bow (my first attempt at bow making).  However, I had to make a gigantic bow in order to cover the stain.  I think I'll end up throwing away the sweater.  But I'm thinking I may keep the bow (as big and ridiculous as it is) and see how it would work out attached to a belt or something.  This top has strings on it that tie in the back.  I may try attaching the bow to the strings and tie it in front instead.  For now, it will be an at home outfit only.  These pants are old and wrinkled because they've been thrown in the closet and rarely worn.  These are another wear at home only item.
Do you have pieces of clothing you don't part with, but don't wear in public?

Thrifted Items:  Pant, top, turtleneck, sweater, slip on loafers.
