Workday Outfit: House of Harlow 1960 Replica

I purchased this House of Harlow 1960 by Nichole Ritchie necklace replica on ebay for a grand total of $2.82!  No tax.  No shipping.  Original necklace shows selling at Nordstrom for $75.  I'll take my thrifty knockoff.  Looks almost identical.
I wore my comfy bronze sandals  to match the shimmery bronzy brown tank top.
I also wore my largest gold hoop earrings and a new gold cuff I purchased this past week at Forever 21.  I am so happy I got it.  I know I'll wear it often.  I got a gold tiered necklace there as well and I know it's going to be a favorite too.

Weekday Casual Outfit: Movie Day

Tuesday we went to see World War Z.  We liked it a lot.  It was pretty intense the whole way through.  I don't like to dress up to go the the movies because I like to get a hot dog and popcorn and I'm a spiller and a splatterer so I don't like to eat in any clothes I don't want to to take the chance on ruining.  Afterward, we stopped at Cheesecake Factory and got Red Velvet Cheesecake to have for our dinner. haha  Total junk food day.  I did only get a small popcorn with no butter though...and a diet coke...so I was good there. :)
The dinner I have posted below was actually from Monday night.
This is what I wore.  Plus a cardigan the same color green AND a navy jacket.  I don't like to be cold in movie theaters.

Workday Outfit: Lime Green and Blue

First of all, thank you to everyone who voted and/or posted their own May Flashback Favorite outfit in my last post.  I appreciate it and am finding the results of the poll very interesting.  It's still open for a couple more days, so I'll wait to reveal my own favorite till then.  I think I'll try to do this again for the month of June in a week or so.  That was fun.

I wore this to work earlier in the week.  The straps didn't stay up around my ankles where they should and so they rested under my heel all day.  I was able to walk in them fine, but the strap stuck out on the side.  It was not made in a way that I could just cut it off and go strapless either.  So...these shoes, and the pants also, have already been donated to the thrift store.  I'm not hanging on to "problem items" any more, especially if I don't really love them.

Sleeveless Top w/Ruffle $4.90 Dress Barn (Value Village)

Weekend Outfit: Navy and White

This is what I wore this past Saturday.  I bought this jacket a year and a half ago and have probably worn it 3-4 times.  I really do like it.  I used to think of it as a top, but now think of it more as a jacket...or perhaps, a new word I've recently learned...a "topper".  Not really sure how to classify it, but it gives me the look I want.

Workday Outfit: Bright Blue and Bronze

I have had this skirt for around 15 years, but have probably not worn it in 14 because I outgrew it.  I'm glad it finally fits again.  After putting this outfit on I was not sure if I actually wanted to still keep the skirt, but my employer complimented me on it and assured me that, in her opinion, it was a keeper.  I have two other ways planned to wear it, so I guess I will keep it for now and try the other looks sometime too.
I wore my new necklace to work this week both on Wednesday and Friday.
This is a first time wear for these bronze heeled sandals.  They pick up the bronzy color in the skirt.

Flip Flops Issue - A Follow Up to Earlier Post Today

I'm a flip flops gal.  My female employer even wears flip flops to work.  (We provide psychiatric therapy and medication management.)  Office attire varies from casual, but neat, to dressy casual.  I live in Seattle....the home of the grunge movement.  Pearl Jam and Nirvana.  I was always a big fan of the music and the look...as well as the bohemian/hippie style.  People here tend to be more relaxed and outdoorsy.  That's one thing I love about living here....you can pretty much dress any way you want and it's acceptable.  My husband and I would go to the symphony and I was delighted to see people dressed to the hilt, people looking as if they were in their everyday work clothes, and people who looked like they just walked off the street from the coffee shop in their jeans.  I love a society where people are not looked down on for how they dress or the labels in their clothing.

Over the last few years I've tried to gear my daily style toward a more sophisticated and classic look because that's what I've been drawn to and is appealing for me at the age I am now (52).  I sometimes like a bit of a preppy look too.  But honestly, I do have many days still, when I'm at home or running errands when you'll find me in my flip flops.  I don't think my love for flip flops will ever die.  I think I own about 25 pairs of them.

They're not for everyone.  But they will pop up on my blog from time to time because that's what I wear in real life and this is pretty much just a "What I Wore" outfit journal for me.

Someone mentioned that Stacy and Clinton don't approve of flip flops.  I don't even watch them.  I'm sure I probably should. haha  I think I may have seen an episode when it first started about 10 years ago.  I should probably pay closer attention to "trends" and "what to wear" and "what not to wear" opinions from experts.  Fashion advice is helpful, interesting, and thought provoking.  But, in the end (to an extent)...I'm probably a do what feels good type of gal and don't necessarily feel compelled to strictly follow the rules of fashion.

What do you think?  Do you like or dislike flip flops?
How can you not like these pretties though? :)
Of, course...these more plain ones are favorites of mine too.

(brown ones above) Super raggety, well worn, and loved. ha

Workday Outfit: Necklace Ecstasy

Super duper thrilled over this necklace that just arrived Tuesday!!!

I bought it on eBay for only $6.  No tax.  No shipping.  Just 6 bucks!  And I LOVE it!
I also got a black/gold necklace in a slightly different style and it was only $2.82.  Total!  Can you believe it?  I like it, but this is my favorite and I'll have more to wear this one with I think.  I'll show you the black one another day though.
I wore this to work yesterday (Wednesday).

Yep.  I'm happy. haha  I think it's awfully pretty for the price.  It is going to go well with many of my outfits.  I already had a work outfit planned for Friday and this just so happens to look great with it so I may just have to wear it again.
I've had the cream and gold earrings for ages and they matched very well with the necklace and outfit.
