Two Budget Friendly Holiday Outfits

Holiday outfit 1 is a velvet look dress trimmed in a leopard print at collar, cuffs, and even buttons.

 
Holiday outfit 2 is simply a basic black jeans and black (mock turtleneck) tank, but is dressed up with a faux fur collared jacket worn as a topper, a sparkly necklace and earrings, and red lipstick.

These are actually ankle boots with small stiletto heel although they blend so well with the black jeans (tucked into bootie) that it's not clear here.

A New Denim Shirt Dress

 I wanted to try a bit of a different look than fits into my usual comfort zone and so ended up wearing things I normally wouldn't.  For instance...

I don't usually like to wear belts, but this dress didn't have a lot of shape to it so I belted. 

I don't normally wear dresses, but I decided to give this one a try.  But I would only wear it with tights and never bare legs, even though the sleeves snap up to two shorter lengths and would be nice for summer.  I would never wear it without tights because it's too short for my body.

I was going to wear my brown, more to the knee, boots with low heel, but opted for the more rugged ones.

Will I repeat this oufit?  Probably not.  I may try it with the other boots, but I will most likely save these little boots for jeans or other casual pants.

A Statement Necklace

I was thrilled to find this chunky statement necklace and I love the silver/gray/peach colors.  I was surprised, when I held it up to various clothes in my closet, just how many pieces it goes with.  It is one of my favorite jewelry pieces.
The other necklace is what I call a "snake necklace" and is a silver metal also.

OOTD: Boots + Denim

I was soooo disappointed.  I loved these ankle boots so much, but a few hours into wearing them for the first time my shins began to ache.  The top edge of the boot banged against my shin when I walked leaving a bruised feeling.  If I wore them with long pants and had on thick socks that came up above the top of the boot it might give enough cushion to resolve the issue.  I was looking forward to being able to wear them with the shorter pants like these though.  I may have to save that look for shorter outings...not an all day work boot I'm afraid....unless the long pant/sock cushion attempt works.

New Suede Ankle Boots

More fall wardrobe newbies!  I was so thrilled to find these taupe suede ankle boots when I quickly ran into Goodwill for a vase.  Hubby was patiently waiting in the car with his book.  I made a mad dash around the store and found these fabulous boots (that had been on my wish list) and also a 2nd cognac colored purse that I could not pass up...even though I had recently purchased another one in similar color.  But hubby understood and pointed out that they are slightly different colors and the styles are different so....there is good reason to need them both. haha
So much for my warbling on about becoming more of a minimalist.  I am apparently not yet ready. LOL  It feels like an evolution of sorts.  Could take thousands of years.....  :) 

When I was looking at boots such as these on retail I was noticing that some of the styles sold are dirtied up on the toe....like they've been water stained and worn.  I find this a funny trend, but a welcome one.  Now you don't have to worry so much about something looking a bit worn or scuffed.  It's the style!! haha
These boots had a slight discoloration mark on one side, but I don't care.  As a vlogger I watch declares "It gives it character."  
More pluses for these boots are that they were a good price, felt comfortable, and were exactly the color I had wanted.  They also have a wide, substantial heel that is really very close to being a wedge.  So even though they are higher than I usually wear, I think they'll be okay since it's not a skinny heel.

Feeling Good In Cobalt

 I've been a little more tied up with work and this diet lately so I haven't had a chance to visit as many blogs or visit as frequently.  I hope to catch up soon.  I feel like more of my time than usual is consumed by cooking, planning, prepping and cleaning up after meals.  We have 3 meals per day and no snack.  We're used to having lunch and dinner and snack.  Sometimes John didn't even eat lunch.  I would starve! ha  I can sure tell that eliminating my night time snack is helpful to my weight.  After this Whole 30 is over I'm going to try my best to not go back to that habit.

My outfit this day is one I'm happy with.  I was glad to fit back into these jeans.  I like the fit of this blazer and the color.  I am donating both my red blazer and houndstooth blazer even though I've only worn them 2-3 times each.  I just didn't like the way they looked on me and decided I wasn't going to force myself to wear them.  I didn't pay that much for them and I'd rather wear something I feel good in.

A New Scarf

I've purchased several new scarves over the last month or so.  This is one of them.  I can thrift scarves at such great prices that they're hard to resist....and for so little money, they're a great way to accessorize.

 You can't really see it in these photos, but this blazer has a faint blue color running through it.  Pretty much the same shade of blue that is also in the scarf.  The scarf also has a mustard yellow color the same as the tank top I'm wearing under the blazer.
