Wearing A Dress As A Shirt

I am most comfortable in a longer style top and so when I saw this striped garment, in ocean blue-green colors I love, in the dress section I thought it would be perfect as a shirt on me. 

 I don't believe I've ever purchased a dress to wear as a top, but I've enjoyed wearing it this way so much that I am keeping my eye out for another one to wear like this as well.  So far I have not found just the right one, but now I know what to look for.

This day I wore the dress/top with my khaki pants, but I've since worn it with jeans (switching up a few other elements) and will show that soon.  I like it both ways.

OOTD: A Scarf Choker

 I've discovered that I like the looks of a scarf tied in this fashion...around the neck like a choker.  It's very easy to do.  Just wrap and wrap then tie the remaining two tiny ends together.

  

This works well with a thinner, smaller type scarf rather than a thick, heavy winter one.

A Pretty Peach And Toasted Almond Scarf

When I first saw this scarf I thought it was sooo, sooo pretty.  I loved the colors and knew it would work well with pieces I already have in my wardrobe.  I see that the taupe (Toasted Almond) color of the scarf is one of the chosen Pantone colors for spring.  I suppose the peach color is a softer shade of the Tangerine they have listed also.

These earrings (I have had for ages) were the perfect colors to go with the scarf and olive cardigan.

Chunky Gold Necklace

I found this chunky gold necklace at Goodwill for only $2.50 and loved it.  It is a fairly heavy piece and seems to be pretty good quality.

OOTD: Last Minute Substitutions

Well, I had predicted that I would be wearing my newly thrifted skirt this week with an olive colored tee and lightweight black blazer, but it was too darn cold.  I needed some warmer arm coverage and so opted for a long sleeved black tee and cardigan.  I did wear tights and nearly knee high boots too.
I think I will be wearing my new, super big and cozy cardigan to work on Wednesday as it is supposed to remain in the mid 30's.

Remixing My Wardrobe Pieces And My Process For Doing It

None of these pieces are new.  I've worn this all before...but not in this combination.  It's fun to remix your wardrobe pieces and come up with new outfits.

I'm forever being inspired by other bloggers.  I get ideas from what I see (it may be from a color combination, a particular clothing item, etc.), I realize I have similar pieces in my closet, then I pull out the items and put together an outfit.  I'll photograph it for future reference.  I even make up folders by month and then drop these photos into the monthly folder in which I think I might like to wear that particular outfit.

I'm always tweaking and adjusting these folders...moving things around.  I have outfits planned for up to mid year 2015! ha  I think the planning and putting together of outfits is the most fun part of this little hobby of mine (besides the actual bargain hunting part).
I have a master folder that contains 0ver 900 outfits I've put together and photographed.  Yikes!  I try to discard some of my least favorites from time to time or ones which contain pieces I no longer own.  Many of the outfit combinations I have put together I've never even worn.  Some are planned for a future date and the others I always think I may get to.... someday.
You can create a ton of different outfits starting with just a single scarf.  And I have a multitude of those!   :)

Shoe Success!

This is one of my favorite scarves I've purchased this season.  It's a gauzy material in cream, gray, and black.  It works well with many things in my wardrobe.

This sweater vest will be able to be worn in many ways as well.  I have several other outfits planned with it already.

Yay!  These ballet flats passed the test and a painless day at work was had.  These are a solid color, but have a sort of fish scale like pattern.  They are the kind of shoe that has a little flexibility and makes them more comfortable.
