New Plaid Scarf With Gravity

A brightly colored fringed plaid scarf with an equally bright green tee and cardigan makes me feel pretty bright too.  I wore this to see Gravity in 3D the other day.  We usually just get all our movies free from the library, but we were gifted a movie theater gift certificate for Christmas so it was a nice treat.  Of course, hot dogs and popcorn were consumed while watching our space drama.

This was a first time wear for this sweater.  I was quite pleased with the blue denim I paired with it.  I liked the look and feel of this outfit for me.

I had only worn these shoes once before and they had rubbed a blister on the top of a couple of toes.  So I ordered these little nylon things that just slip over your toes and that totally solved the problem!  I am actively working on solving some of my shoe issues.

Weekend Outfit: Navy With Plum

A typical casual day for me.

 Must throw on a cardigan to go get the groceries.  I freeze in there.

 My very well worn navy flip flops.  I even wear these around the house with my summer pj's a lot.

A Little Black With My Deep Plum

When I put this top on Wednesday morning before work I was thinking it was a little big and this may be the only time I wear it.  I seem to have done that a few times lately...having clothes in my closet that I've never worn and then by the time I decide to wear them they've become too big for me.  Not really complaining about that, but a shame not to be able to wear them.  I have a pair of pants that I'm going to try to wash in warm water and dry in the dryer even though the instructions say to wash cold and hang to dry...because they have some stretch in them and need to shrink quite a bit.  We'll see if that works.  Another approach would be to try to slim them down by sewing.  I have been successful with this on other pants about 30% of the time I've tried it.  Sometimes I just have to scrap that idea and go buy a new (thrifted) pair to replace them.

This top, however, after seeing it in the photographs...I'm actually liking it and can see the potential of wearing it with either my gray pants or gray jeans....or black pants/jeans.  So I may hang on to this for a while.  Besides, I really love dressier feeling blouses that I can just wear loose and untucked.  I would really like to be able to roll up the sleeves, but I tried it and the fabric is so slinky they just slide out of the  roll, so I gave up on that idea and just left them down.  I also tried tying it up at the waist, but didn't like that either.  Just down and loose was more suitable for me.

Flowers and Sequins

I really loved this t-shirt...especially for under $3.  I like the floral pattern, the pink/yellow/taupe colors, and the clear sequins (which you cannot see well in the photos).  I will probably pair the top half of this outfit with tan slacks and white jeans as well.  If I ever find the right soft yellow cardigan I think that would be cute with the t-shirt too.

Plum Jeans

My first pair of jeans in this color.  I kind of like them. :)
They're my trusty Gloria Vanderbilt brand and were only $2.80.  I couldn't pass them up!
I'm going to have to get more creative with what I put with them though.  I had purchased this sleeveless top in September 2011 and don't think I'd even worn it yet...so wanted to at least wear it once.  It's just okay.  The next combo I have planned for these jeans I like much better.  It's a pretty floral t-shirt and cream cardigan I bought recently.
Our weather has been much better.  The sun is shining and it's supposed to warm up into the mid to high 70's this weekend.  I am soooo looking forward to it!
