Navy With Yelow

Today I drove about an hour to visit my daughter.  We went to Whole Foods to pick up a few things then back to her house to have lunch.  We're both on the Whole 30 program and being good by not eating out like we usually do.
She spiraled some zucchini on her spiraler thingy and made some homemade tomato sauce.  It was really good.  I am totally impressed with the vegetable spiraler and feel like I may need one.

Dinner on Day 7:  Cashew Shrimp and Veggie Stir Fry w/Banana and Pineapple
I've found coconut aminos to be a nice substitute for soy sauce.  I added a little Fish Sauce into this meal also.  I'd never tried it before either.   John and I both enjoyed this meal.  I thought we'd miss the rice or noodles, but it was very good on it's own.

Hello Again Navy Skinnies! + Whole 30 Day 5

This outfit was worn on Saturday.  I realized the scarf was very wrinkled, but we were just running to the grocery store and a couple of errands and it would be underneath a buttoned up coat with not much actual scarf showing so I didn't take the time to break out the ironing board and iron it.
I am so happy that I am now fitting back into my navy skinny jeans. Yay!
I have had this sweater for probably at least 12 years, but hardly ever wear it.  I do like it's oversized casual feel though and will be keeping it.

Thrifted Items:
Navy Skinny Jeans $3.50 Lauren Conrad (Value Village)
Tan Pashmina Scarf $4.99 (Goodwill)
Purse $5.99 Liz Claiborne
Cognac Loafer $7.65 Sutton Plaza (Value Village)

Day 5 on our Whole 30 I broke down and weighed.  You're technically not supposed to weigh yourself until after the 30 days is over.  I am an every morning weigher and so I was just too curious to know if I'd lost any weight.  So on Day 5 (as I write this) I weighed myself.  I am very happy I broke this rule because the 5 and 3/4 lb weight loss I've acheived thus far is giving me added incentive to complete this program and to incorporate many of the healthier eating habits I'm learning into my daily life afterwards.

Here's what we had for dinner on Day 5:  fried tilapia w/almond meal coating and homemade tarter sauce, steamed broccoli w/ghee, parsnip/carrot mash w/ghee, and bananas/pineapples.

This was a really good meal!  We enjoyed it and will put this on our repeat list.
(please excuse the lovely mismatched dinnerware - ha)

New Purse + Whole 30 Day 3

I found this purse on sale at Ross Dress For Less and really liked it.  It reminded me of one my daughter has that I've always thought was nice.  I debated on whether or not to get it...because I already have a large black purse.  My other one is little older and more worn looking and I knew I'd regret not buying this one if I didn't.

Pants $4.35 AB Studios (Value Village)
Black 3/4 length tee $5 Talbots (Value Village)
Red/Black Jacket $7 Coldwater Creek (Value Village)

Whole 30 Day 3
Dinner was taco salad.  We are finding that it's not nearly as enjoyable eating our meals with no pasta, no cheese, no sugar (it's it way many more products than I imagined once I started examining labels)....  but we're hanging in there.
I am loving the pineapple, avocados (guacamole), sweet potatoes, and the breakfast sausage though.

Bright Colored Scarf + Whole 30 Day 2

This is another of my new scarves.  Loved the color in this one.  Was going to wear my brown jeans, but they were a little snug and I need to lose a few pounds to wear them comfortably again.  So the gray pants fit looser and I decided to go with the out of the box (for me) camel/gray combo.  I like it....especially with the red added in.

 Thrifted Items:
Gray Ankle Pants $5 Banana Republic (Value Village)
Sweater $4.90 Designers Originals (Value Village)
Scarf $2.10 (Value Village)
Red Loafers $6.99 Partners (Value Village)

Wednesday was day 2 of our Whole 30 diet.  Day 1 and 2 we have missed our evening snack and I've gone to bed just a tiny bit hungry, but our daytime meals have been generous.
I tried both mornings to drink coffee without creamer and sweetener and I just can't do it.  So I guess I'll just give up the coffee for now.  What does that tell me?  I really just enjoy that sweet in the mornings.  When this is over I may limit my coffee intake to 1 cup rather than 2, use half the amount of non dairy creamer I was using and I think I will try coconut sugar to replace my aspartame.  I'm trying to learn to make better choices on the necessities and eliminate what I can live without.
One thing I'm really loving is that we can have guacomole which I love!  I have half an avocado mashed up with a bit of (compliant) salsa.  So that is a treat.  Normally I try to stay away from that because I crave it with tortilla chips as a night time snack and eat too much, too often.  But I've enjoyed it with our morning frittata instead.
I've even made homemade mayo!
This is dinner from Day 1:  BBQ (homemade sauce /compliant) Pork Roast, 1/2 yam w/ghee, steamed broccoli, and half a deviled egg.
The sweet potato was actually the best I've ever eaten.  I don't know if it was the ghee or the potato itself, but I thought it tasted delicious.  I'd never had ghee before and we were going to make some, but I found a jar of it at Trader Joe's for three dollars and change and thought I'd try it first to see if I even liked it.  I do!

A New Scarf With Old Yellow Sweater + Whole 30 Day 1

Our Whole30 starts (today) Tuesday. (I actually got this post ready the night before.)  Wish us luck!  I act like I'm getting ready to climb Mt. Everest. haha  But for us...big time pasta, bread, potato lovers and avid nighttime snackers...it's a near equivalent. :D
The part I'm dreading most is giving up my non-dairy creamer and 4 pkts aspartame (bad...so bad) in my morning coffee.  Ugh.

This is a quick "go to" oufit.  You know how you have certain items that are just easy to grab and throw on?  This sweater and the loafers are 2 things that I like and are comfortable to wear for a casual day.
I wore the sweater with a denim collared top and burgundy jeans here...at the end of October.

A New Scarf

I've purchased several new scarves over the last month or so.  This is one of them.  I can thrift scarves at such great prices that they're hard to resist....and for so little money, they're a great way to accessorize.
You can't really see it in these photos, but this blazer has a faint blue color running through it.  Pretty much the same shade of blue that is also in the scarf.  The scarf also has a mustard yellow color the same as the tank top I'm wearing under the blazer.

Yellow Tank Top 99 cents Sonoma Lifestyles (Goodwill)

Rich Leopard on Green

This is one of two leopard scarves I recently purchased.  I already wore the one with lighter background.  This one is a richer color and I chose to wear it with a deep green sweater.
The shoes (backless mules, my favorite) pick up the caramel tones of the scarf.

Green Sweater $3 St. John's Bay (Value Village)
Leopard Scarf $7.99 (Value Village)
Purse $8 Fossil (Value Village)
Shoes $2.80 Jennifer Moore (Value Village)
