Just a Little Twist

I like to wear my hair up a lot and today I tried adding a little twist.  It's not a big change, but adds a little something.  I just twisted the sides back and then created a messy bun/ponytail.  I like it, it was easy, and I will probably use this as a go to style in the future.  Another twist in today's outfit is the scarf.  I just tied it at the ends, twisted and looped it around my head to create the infinity scarf look.  I am also wearing a new pair of wedges.  I'm loving wedges these days.

Brownie Points

Hello, my lovely blogger friends!  I just feel happy today to have made so many wonderful acquaintances through blogging.  I was recently struck by how kind hearted and generous so many of you are and it warms my heart.  So I just wanted to thank you for being such a beautiful group of caring and supportive ladies.
One of these lovely ladies, Lisa, at Simple Fashion and Decorating puts together really great outfits and shows us wonderfully priced pieces she has acquired through thrifting, yard sales, etc.  So please check out my new blogger buddy's site and enjoy her everyday fashions.
The weather is fluctuating here, so my style is as well.  One day it's springlike and today it's cool again.  I'm getting more wear out of my winter skirt, sweater, and pointy brown slip on heels.

Working in the White

I'm carrying my new white purse to the office today.  It feels bright and fresh.  It's supposed to be a cloudy, rainy day and so I felt like a boost of lightness in my wardrobe.  I'm also wearing newly thrifted navy sandals and it's the first time I've worn this top as well.   It's dark navy, but looks kind of black in the photos.   I'd really like to do the heavy arm candy styling, but I don't seem to have enough bracelets...or ones that look right together, so that is a trend I'll have to work on for the future.  Today I'll keep it clean and simple.

Thrifted Items:  White jeans $4.50 Amanda, navy/white top $5.60 R&M Richards by Karen Kwong, navy sleeveless top $1.50 Uniform-John Paul Richard, white purse $7.79 Liz Claiborne (new w/tags), navy strappy sandals $5.60 Donna Lawrence.

Teetering About

I wore this out for a birthday celebration breakfast this morning with hubby and his 2 sisters.  We all have birthdays that fall within a couple of weeks of each other.  I had to take baby steps and walk very carefully in the high wedges.  I nearly twisted an ankle at one point.  I need a little more practice with these. haha  Although they are very comfortable, I'm a little wobbly.

Sunday's Thrift Shopping

These are just a few of the things I bought.  I got quite a lot and am happy with everything.  Haven't even had time to get it all put away yet.  I'm having to weed out unworn items to make room.  If it would ever warm up enough I could box up my sweaters and have more space, but I know I'll still need them.  I really have to watch closely as I'm being rung up, because too many times I have gotten home and realized they missed giving me my discount on something.  Well, I caught one Sunday before I left the store and had to have everything rung up again with a manager to save that couple of dollars.  But, hey, that's a whole other items worth of savings.  I want it. haha  I ended up getting lots of button downs (not shown here) which I'm into now for some reason... because I never owned any in the past.  And I seem to find lots of things in melony (maybe not a word) colors.  I got 9 pairs of shoes!  Like I really need those. haha  But when I can get 9 pair for the price of one regular pair I'm going for it if I find ones I like and I think will be comfortable.
Everything I bought was either 30% or 50% off the tag price.

1) Floral Print Skirt $5.60 Jones New York
2) Dark Carnation Sweater $2.80 Charter club

Ready For Thrifting

Today I'm going thrifting with some of my birthday money.  I'm wearing my preferred thrifting outfit...items that are quick and easy to slip off for trying on loads of clothing.  Loose skirt with elastic waistband which is easily slid off or able to try something on underneath it without even removing.  Top with wide neck to get easily over my head.  Short sleeves because I get pretty warm while doing serious thrifting.  It's like a sport. haha  Comfortable shoes that are easily removed.  Minimal jewelry.  Manageably sized purse.
I'm heading to a couple of thrift stores that are about 15 min. farther away than the ones I normally frequent.  I actually am hitting up a Goodwill I've never been to, but have heard good things about, plus one other store that I've been to and like.
So, off I go!  I'll let you know what I find.

Thrifted Items:  Skirt, yellow top, red cardigan, sandals, purse $6 Aldo.

Seeing Spots

I made this shirt from a dress I'd never worn by cutting off the bottom and resewing on the ruffle.  I used some of the excess fabric to make a bow.

Thrifted Items:  Jeans $6.99 Express, black cardigan, shoes $2.

Tangerine? Coral? Melon?

To simplify things I'm just going to call this blazer tangerine in color, but I think it is really a cross between tangerine and melon.  I have difficulty distinguishing colors sometimes.
I did not feel as good in this outfit as I thought I would when I put together the blazer with the scarf.  You know how you just have your favorite outfits and the ones that just feel like you and make you happy when you wear them?  This does not do that for me.   But I think I have a couple "feel good" outfits planned for the upcoming days.  In the meantime, this was worn yesterday for a work day and our office Open House in the afternoon/evening.  It was a long day and these are one of my most comfy pairs of shoes...plus I like them, so that's a win/win.

Thrifted Items:  Black slacks $6.99 Ninety from Nordstrom (new w/ tags), black top, tangerine blazer $3 Norton McNaughton, scarf $1, black heels $6.99 Liz Claiborne, necklace, bracelets.
