OOTD: Casual Chic In Chico's Cardigan and Ralph Lauren Loafers

This outfit is relaxed in style, but still maintains a bit of casual chic by double layering an off white and a light peach scarf with fringes over a neutral base which includes a favorite Chico's cardigan.

 Adding rich accessories with the caramel toned purse and loafers along with multiple bracelets also helps to create a more put together look with a laid back feel.

Another of my favorite thrift finds was this pair of Ralph Lauren flat loafers I picked up for $4 back in 2012.  I love their creamy caramel color, the little bows, and the fact that they are soooo comfortable.

Sequined Shoes

I thrifted these pretty sequined shoes in Oct. 2014, but this is the first time I've worn them.  Crazy about them!  Can't wait to wear them with my new skinny dark denim jeans too.  About 5 more pounds off in order to get those jeans buttoned without killing myself. ha
I remember back in high school (1978 ish) laying on the bed and nearly breaking my fingers trying to get jeans zipped up that were so tight it's a wonder I could breath.  I think a friend of mine said she would use pliers to pull her zipper up. lol

Cognac Riding Boots

I finally thrifted a pair of riding boots.  They're the first pair I've ever owned.  I never have been much of a (tall) boot wearer, but I've always wanted to try this style out for fun without spending a fortune.  These were only $10 so I was fine with that.

This scarf is a new purchase also and I think it will be one of my favorites.  It has some green and blue in it, but is a good neutral piece.

I love scarves and thrifted 4 more the day I photographed this outfit...which was yesterday (Tuesday).  I had a get together with my daughter, Shelley, for lunch and thrift shopping.  John (hubby) and I will be going out to lunch New Year's Eve and I plan on wearing my favorite of the bunch...a red one...and you'll get to see it on Thursday or Friday.

I liked this mix of colors together.  It was also nice to see my long lost ponytail for a change.

With my extreme weight gain over the last couple of months it is necessary to wear the long cardigans to hide the hip/thigh area.  Even though I like this style at any weight...I am hoping to find it acceptable to be a bit more accentuating of my derriere by spring. haha

How a Cardigan Can Greatly Increase The Number of Outfits In Your Closet

Just as I was talking (here) about remixing and the potential to raise your outfit quotient with just a single scarf...the same thing can be said about a cardigan.  
I can't seem to get enough of this one.  It seems to go with so many things in my wardrobe.  I like wearing it in a more casual way with one of my favorite pairs of jeans and wedged ankle boots (as in this post), but I also liked it here dressing it up a bit more.

The light caramel hue goes well with things of color, but works equally well with neutrals such as black, browns, and grays.

This cardigan was a total steal at only $1.95!  I definitely hit the jackpot with this one.  It fits perfectly into my style vision and I've created numerous outfits by incorporating it....with more to come.  :)

Golden Dreams

The long, sleeveless cardigan and the scarf are new.  The purse is fairly new also.  Not sure if I've shown it on the blog before.  I really loved the shimmery gold embroidery of the scarf.  It makes it a special piece. 

This whole outfit just ticks all of my boxes for what I consider a perfect look and style for myself.  It may very well be my most favorite outfit I own...the outfit of my dreams. :)
