OOTD For A Trip To An Island

Here's the outfit I wore on our day trip to Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, WA.

First we had lunch at a little diner in town and then browsed through a couple of shops on the main street before heading over to the reserve below.
It was a beautiful estate.  The home had been occupied by the family from 1951 to 1986.

The view as seen from the front of the home.
The back view out the dining room window.
I especially love the windows.

It was nice to enjoy this beautiful day with my husband.

Tee $2.50 Style & Co.

Purse $8 Nine West

A Day Trip With My Honey

This was a recent day trip John and I took to Snoqualmie Falls.  The weather was gorgeous.  We ate lunch at the lodge there then went on a train ride.  Afterwards, we stopped at the next little town over, South Bend, and had cherry pie, ice cream and coffee.
After lunch at the lodge we walked over and snapped these pictures of the waterfall.

Me and my sweet hubby on the train. :)
We saw a few cool, old cars.  This was one.

Daytripping to Hurricane Ridge

The weather was fantastic and the scenery was beautiful.  I couldn't ask for a better day.
Pardon my appearance, but this is what my trekking about fun looks like. haha
We saw a couple of these cute little chipmunks scampering around.  This one came nearly right up to my shoe as I was sitting on a bench in the woods.  I think he was quickly ascertaining if I would feed him before bounding off again.  There were signs all around NOT to feed the wildlife, but from the looks of this little guy I don't know if this rule has been totally complied with.

My sweetheart...John.

A Bonsai Garden Visit

The bonsai garden's website we visited had the following description:
"Elegance and serenity. Drama and passion. Bonsai is an ancient Asian art form that finds root in human emotion.  Bonsai are miniaturized, living trees shaped by artists to portray scenic large trees in nature."
It was interesting to learn that at least one in this collection had been started from an overgrown tree in someone's back yard.  Some were from trees that were a hundred years old or so.  One was actually from a tree that was 1000 years old.  Many had been "in training" as a bonsai for around 40 years.  One was from a pear tree that still blossoms and one had crabapples dangling from it.
I love the twisted trunks with the variance of color and texture.

Thrifted Items:  Floral skirt, striped top $2.50 Karen Scott, denim top $1.99 Chic, bracelets, necklace, purse.

A Bavarian Style Village

Today John and I took a scenic drive to a Bavarian style village in Leavenworth, WA.  It was very cute with lots of shops and restaurants.  We had a lunch of crepes and then did some browsing.  My personal favorite was a store called Simply Found.  It was a women's boutique that had unique clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc.  So many pieces I was eyeing, but I didn't buy anything on this trip.....just a Maple Nut dip of ice cream in a sugar cone for desert.  :)
It was a beautiful sunny day.  The driving time there and back totaled about 5 hours, but it took us through gorgeous mountain scenery.
Here is a little history on how Leavenworth came to be a Bavarian village in the middle of Washington.
