I quickly snipped off the bottom of a dress I was going to donate back to the thrift store and wrapped it around my neck for a scarf. I did not even sew up the cut edge. At the time, I thought it was a pretty good idea. I wore it like this all day today. I had taken my photos this morning, but had not had time to upload them and get this post ready till just now. Well, looking at the photos I can see my bright idea was not so bright. Maybe if I'd done some extra twisting to the scarf for a different look...I don't know...maybe it just wasn't meant to be.
Let's just focus on the cute shoes instead. :)
Thrifted Items:
Black Jeans $9.99 Liz Claiborne
Men's Flannel Button Down $3.99
White Sweater
Scarf (refashioned from old thrifted dress)
Black Leather Purse $8 Fossil
Black Suede Flats w/ Studs & Buckle $12.99 BCBG
It is a good idea - like you said, maybe just one more twist! Those BCBG shoes rock!
ReplyDeleteHm, it IS a good idea, but I agree with Lynne that maybe you need to play with the shaping a bit more or possibly cut it a bit narrower.
ReplyDeleteThis evening I thought about it a bit more and just by bunching up the parts with lace into a flower shape and thereby narrowing the bulk of the scarf a bit...I think it might create a better look. I just need to stitch it up into the flower-like shape and see how it works out. If I don't ruin it I'll post a photo of the updated rendition some time.
Deletelisa the idea is good! here many of the young stylish girls wear such scarfs. if you don't like it on the pictures it is perhaps because of the drapery. im curious of your updated version.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are super awesome :3
ReplyDeleteThe scarf could use a couple of rings around it (if you have adjustable ones that you can "open") so it would get some shape :)

It is a good idea, but I like your newest idea better - maybe another pic when you try it that way?
ReplyDeleteYes, more twisting would be a good thing. I think the way it is styled here is just slightly overwhelming for your frame. I have run into this same problem before with the bigger scarves--they can be tricky.
