Meet My New Little Friend Who Changed My Life

One day, not long ago, I was perusing blogs and came across this brilliant idea!
Why did I struggle most of my 53 purse carrying years with the dread of having to change purses when I wanted something more appropriate for the outfit I was wearing??  I mean it takes literally minutes...possibly even 2!...to take each item out of one purse and load it all into another.  Moving all that stuff is hard work!  Labor intensive.  ;)
Not really....but, if you're like me it's not something I looked forward to.  All those compartments laden with "essentials" that had to be transferred.  I carry spare keys - just in case I lock myself out of house or car, ER feminine products, aspirin in case of heart attack, ibuprofen, gum, nail clippers, comb, pen, lipstick, dental floss, phone, wallet, and on and on and on...  Whew!  And transferring said items is just one of life's little headaches. (lol)
But not anymore!!!  I discovered this little gem.  A purse organizer!!!
The one I thrifted is probably not designed for that purpose (it's Estee Lauder, so I'm assuming it may be a large makeup bag?), but it was perfect for my requirements, looked brand new, and was inexpensive.  I can't remember the exact price, but I believe I only paid between $2-$4 for it.  I had it in mind to look for when I went to the thrift store and...lo and behold there she was...the perfect little neutral bag to fit inside almost all but the smallest of my purses.  Everything fits right in there!  Now all I have to do is lift a single bag from one purse and place it into another purse.  Viola!!!  No more grueling work and time lost from my life.
If I calculate my time spent on purse swapping it could possibly total up to 4 hrs per year, which doesn't sound like much.  But multiply that times 50 years of a lifetime of purse transfers and it could equal 200 hours spent on this menial task!  Whoa!
(Check my math and tally your own for correct calculations. ha)
Since I got a late start with this ingenious idea I won't reap as many hours saved, but still....I'll be happy to have my little friend to make this process a more pleasant one.
Do you have a purse organizer?  Are you considering getting one now?  :)

p.s.  This organizer does fit all the way inside my purse...allowing the actual purse to be zipped up or fastened closed if desired.  The organizer itself zips across the top, but I always leave it open for easy access.  It also has a side zip pocket that I keep things I don't normally use...like the spare keys, aspirin, etc.

  6. Fantastic purse-in-a-purse. I don't often switch handbags but I would definitely use this tip if I did.

  7. I don't switch bags often, so I don't normally use a purse organizer. Except for one bag that doesn't have all the inner pockets and compartments I require... I bought it for the pretty pinkish-beige color, and just use the organizer like it's part of that bag only.

    1. I know I have some purses that I very rarely use and I should go through and get rid of a few. Your pinkish-beige bag sounds pretty.
