I have enjoyed buying some new pieces and putting together outfits to create my style vision.
I am very much liking, and am feeling very comfortable in, the direction this style chapter of my life is taking.
In this outfit I've paired an oversized knit cardigan in an olive color (only $1.29 from Chico's) with black pants and tee. I've added a black and olive print scarf, an olive handbag, a cognac ring and cognac Ann Taylor sandals. Here I've also added larger statement jewelry pieces.
What do you think? Do you like this look? Do you have a signature style or any particular preferences for yourself? Have you found that your ideas on how you would like to dress have changed over the years?
This entire outfit (minus the jewelry) cost only about $26. Not bad for pants, tee, cardigan, scarf, purse AND shoes! :)
The scarf and cardigan are new... the shoes are new also and have a wedge heel and soft leather on top so they were very comfortable all day.
Black Ankle Pants $9.97 Atelier Luxe
Black Tee $2.80 Cato
Olive Cardigan $1.29 Chico's
Scarf $1.99
Olive Purse $3
Wedge Sandals $6.80 Ann Taylor

Bracelet $10.80 Forever 21
Necklace $8.80 Forever 21

ReplyDeleteHi, Renia. I'm glad you like it. :)
DeleteGood for you! The look suits you. It has a mature sophistication that says, "I know who I am and I know what I like." You project authenticity and confidence, qualities I'm sure you possess.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ally. Confidence has always been a difficult one for me, but it's grown stronger over the more recent years.
DeleteI love this look and have been tending to go in this direction a lot more lately myself!
ReplyDeleteHi, Debbie. I'm excited to work on developing this style for myself. I'm glad you like it. :)
DeleteYes, our style changes as we do and we are always growing and changing , so it makes sense. I love your necklace and bracelet. I look forward to watching your style change and seeing how you handle purging. That part is hard.
ReplyDeleteI think a signature style is a great idea , but not so much for myself as I feel so multifaceted and love variety and not boxing myself in. For others my way would seem like more chaos while simplicity is comforting.
Thanks for your comment, Tracey. I have totally been like you and wanted lots of many different looks. I'm not going to abandon that totally. I think I'll still be able to fit my boat shoes/flip flops and jeans etc. into this new style idea. I don't think it will restrict my creativity. But yes, I am at a stage in my life where I'd like to simplify a bit. I would have never said that 3 or 4 years ago. haha And it will take time to break old habits of just buying things willy nilly. :) I actually think I had a tendency toward this style anyway, so many of the outfits I already have been wearing will fit right in with it. I now just have a more specific vision and influences to learn from.
