3 Days, 2 Disappointments

The brown outfit I was happy with, but the bottom two outfits I was not.  I was surprised to realize I did not like the look and fit of the houndstooth jacket and was very disappointed because I had so looked forward to wearing it. :(
I am going to try it, as I'd planned, with another top and a sparkly necklace, but I still don't like the big, boxy look of it.  Not sure if I can belt it, but I will see.  The shoulder pads need taken out, but I would have to rip open the inside fabric and I've never done that before.  Hopefully I can work on getting that altered in an acceptable way over the next few days because I was going to wear it to work on Monday.

Linebacker :D
I'm just not liking the fit of these pants still.  I slimmed down the legs, but I think I'm going to try making them skinnier at the bottom.  If that doesn't make me like them better I'll just scrap them.  The jacket is nice, but I prefer it with sleeves and shirt sleeves pushed up. (it was too cold to wear like that now though)

  1. You look good in brown Lisa. Lovely outfit. About the second one, well I am with you, it's nice but not really you, if you know what I mean.

  3. Maybe with the houndstooth - a crisp white blouse with some pearls or pearly broach on the jacket and the sleeves rolled up?

  4. I'm in agreement with Pamela. Perhaps styling the jacket differently will create a more flattering silhouette without having to do alterations. I'm thinking a boyfriend jean with the hem rolled up and loafers, and a chunkier scarf with that crisp white blouse? Do you any boyfriend jeans Lisa?

    1. Oooh, more good ideas, Sue! Not sure that I have the boyfriend jeans. Maybe Santa will bring me a pair for Christmas. :)

  6. I have a plaid pendelton blazer that has a similar sihouette as your houndstooth jacket and I think wearing a skinny bottom helped me. I also belted it and added a chunky scarf

    1. Yes, I see what you mean from your post. I'm going to try bits and pieces from everyone's suggestions. Thanks so much!
p.s. I allllmost bought a jacket just like the one you're wearing last time I went thrifting. I know this pattern is really on trend right now, but I just wasn't sure of the fit. I need to learn to stay away from the boxy, overpadded blazers. ha

  8. You look great in the brown outfit, warm and cozy. (another great scarf!). You have such good taste that you almost never select something that is not "you". You and I have the same colouring and I had to ditch my houndstooth jacket as it drained all the color from my face and highlighted wrinkles and the droopies. Love the idea of b/w houndstooth but can't pull it off.
