Workday Outfit: Purple, Gold and Bling + A Super Duper Bargain

I've managed to pull out another "favorite" look with this outfit.  I'm wearing a gold shimmery tank under a lightweight dark purple cardigan with new black slacks and a very blingy gold/rhinestone statement necklace.  I'm also carrying an olive handbag.  I've read that green is a neutral, popular for this season, and can be used instead of basic black.  I haven't carried this purse much, but am going to try to incorporate it into my outfits more often because I really like it.  It's got an alligator/crocodile? pattern on it and is very roomy.  Oh, and I'm also wearing my bronzy gold sandals which I also love and they are soooo foot friendly.
Let me tell you about these pants.....  I thrifted these for $4.99 and they were brand new with the tags still on.  They are Lafayette148 New York brand.  The tag was priced originally at $298!!  What?!  And these were selling at Loehmann's w/discounted price of $99.  I paid $4.99 for what was nearly a $300 pair of pants, folks!  And I love them!  I had to hem them at the bottom, but otherwise they fit perfectly.  I love it when I hit a BIG BARGAIN like this one while thrifting.  I'm really happy with anything I thrift that I end up loving...no matter what the original price tag actually, but it is kind of exciting to score those really big bargain deals too.
I would love to accumulate, and put into rotation in my wardrobe , outfits like this that I love, that make me feel good, and that fit my personal style...and eventually eliminate all the other stuff that doesn't work as well.  I know I've probably mentioned that before, but it's still my goal.  And every day I put together an outfit like this my desire for that end result just grows stronger.

I found this fabulous necklace on eBay for only $6.99 (no tax/no shipping).  I've seen it sell on other sites for $75 or more.  Now why would I want to pay $75 for the exact same thing (or no discernable difference to me) that I can get for $7??

    1. I'm still in a rut with clearing out. I tried looking through my closets today and couldn't find a thing I was ready to part with. I think I sometimes see too much "possible" potential in an item that I should just give up on already. ha

    1. Oh, yes, love the gold tank too. It's gotten too big, but if I wear it under something it still works. Can't see the gaping armholes that way. Someday maybe I'll work on altering it. I'm just scared I'll ruin it though.

  6. Heck of a find on the pants! Love the outfit and the idea of using olive as a neutral.

    1. Thank you, Donna. I meant to let you know to have a nice trip. We used to leave Emma at a "home" that had a service for caring for animals too. They lived out in the country a bit and watched some dogs that stayed outside, but they let Emma stay inside all the time day and night with the family. She was comfortable and cared for in a nice home so it was definitely worth it.

  7. Great score on those pants and love this outfit. Yes, parting with things is a tough one. I am going to really work hard to wear what I have this season and do some purging at the end.

    1. That's exactly what I'm going to try to do, Tracey. Since I was not able to find much to purge at the moment (I did go back and find 2 items) I'lll keep re-evaluating off and on as the mood strikes, but will try to really make some headway at the end of winter when I see what has not gotten worn at all.

  8. Purple is a must have this autumn! Your cardigan looks so nice on you and matches well with your beautiful olive bag. Wonderful pants too!
