This is about as funky and out there as I get. Two skirts! While thrifting recently I saw this somewhat oversized military green jacket for $2 thought I needed it. I saw a blog photo of someone wearing theirs over a skirt and thought I'd try that too, although...on me, I think it will look better with just jeans. Well, my hair is back to a moderately acceptable status after applying yet another hair color to it. Yay!
Pardon my missing head today. I'm trying to save money by coloring my hair myself and had a self imposed disaster yesterday. At the moment my hair is almost exactly the color of my jeans. I'll be attempting to alleviate my head of some of it's glow tomorrow. We'll see what happens. I knew it was inevitible that I was going to miss my professionally foiled highlights. I am just going to have to resign myself to the fact of having a drastically substandard hair color because I refuse to keep paying nearly $1000 a year for my salon treatments. So my apologies in advance for my possibly continuing hair crisis. As bad as it may look tomorrow...it must surely be an improvement over today. ha It's funny how you are more apt to roll with things when you're older. I even went to work like this. In my younger years I would have been in tears and horrified. Oh, and my hair was actually melting and breaking off.... I won't even need a bang trim this month (which I do myself) because the ends fell off. ha But it's only hair, right?
But, hey! The shoes! Yep, another pair of my recent finds that I got for $4. They are a little lighter in color than in the photo...more like a light tan or nude. And they're a reeeeally soft leather. My feet were so happy today!
Today we are joining my daughter and son-in-law for a Thanksgiving meal at a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. This will be a new experience and I'm looking forward to it. The menu looks delicious. Ido have a little turkey breast and the fixings for some simple side dishes to prepare for John and I this weekend though. I hope you all have a lovely day with friends/family and find much in your lives to be thankful for.
It's hard to see, but this wheat colored cardigan has specks of mustard, wine, and charcoal. I thought I'd add my wine colored turtleneck and gold scarf. The shoes are newly thrifted and are a dark chocolate brown. I'm thrilled that they go into my "totally comfy shoes" category even though they have a heel.
As I was walking to the check out at the thrift store this coat caught my eye. I had not planned to stop and look at coats since our coat closet is crammed full of my thrifted coats at the moment and I really had not wanted to squish my poor husband's coats into less than the already miniscule space I've left him. But.....this navy (yes, it's definitely a very blue navy even though it looks black in the photos) and red coat was sooooo cute and a mere $3! I couldn't pass it up. That's the downside of thrifting. The bargains are just so tremendous it's difficult to say no to things you like, but really don't need (like the 9 pair of shoes I recently bought for $4 each).
This is a 100% silk Talbot's jacket I thrifted. I don't think I've ever had a silk jacket. It has upper and lower pockets, which I like, but the scarf is hiding them. Next time I'll have to wear it minus the scarf or at least tie the scarf so the pockets will show. I'm also wearing another pair of super comfy, backless shoes. I've had them for a few years and don't remember what I thrifted them for, but I know it had to be between $2-$8. These are brown and I have a pair in black that are very nearly identical, but are a different brand.
