I'm getting more wear out of these jeans than I ever imagined I would. I almost didn't buy them, but am glad I did. I am unexpectedly finding many pieces that I like wearing with them. I had thought the sort of odd color would be limiting, but it's actually acting as somewhat of a neutral.
I quickly snipped off the bottom of a dress I was going to donate back to the thrift store and wrapped it around my neck for a scarf. I did not even sew up the cut edge. At the time, I thought it was a pretty good idea. I wore it like this all day today. I had taken my photos this morning, but had not had time to upload them and get this post ready till just now. Well, looking at the photos I can see my bright idea was not so bright. Maybe if I'd done some extra twisting to the scarf for a different look...I don't know...maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Let's just focus on the cute shoes instead. :)
Black Jeans $9.99 Liz Claiborne
Men's Flannel Button Down $3.99
Scarf (refashioned from old thrifted dress) Black Leather Purse $8 Fossil
Today I'm wearing my light sage green jeans, new light sage green button down, and denim sleeveless button downtopped off with this beautiful scarf one of my employers brought me as a gift from her recent trip to Peru. This reminds me of Megan's wonderful post, here, describing her "well traveled outfit". Because of this scarf I am joining the wonderful ladies in the link up at Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday.
Today I'm cozy in a soft, warm flannel men's button down. My feet are super cozy as well...in a mustard flat loafer that is a full size too small. What in the world possessed me to buy these shoes? My husband says it's the "shopping demon". He may be right. I tried them on in the store and convinced myself they would be fine...that I really needed these cute size 7 mustard flats and they felt perfectly wearable on my size 8 foot. Scene 2: I put them on at home to wear for the first time with today's outfit and OMG! they have my feet squished in like a Geisha. When will I learn? sigh
I am pairing my black jeans with a gray striped soft t-shirt, burgundy cardigan, and gray scarf. (The cardigan, scarf, and flats are recent purchases and a first time wear today.) I also have a cardigan in what I call "red plum" which is slightly different in color from this burgundy one, but I have not worn it yet. My natural inclination would be to wear black shoes and a black purse, but I really like the look of adding brown with black so I'm wearing my new carmel colored soft leather flats and my carmel purse (probably my favorite purse I own) and feeling rather proud of myself for being so "on trend". haha I purchased these flats the same day as the Eddie Bauer ones I wore this week. I also got a pair of brown flats and low heeled red mules. They were such amazing prices I couldn't pass them up. Plus they are styles I'm trying to gear my wardrobe and look toward.
Today is my first day of having to work Mondays and it's an adjustment from having a 4 day weekend these past 4 1/2 years with this job. I was only working on Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm glad for the extra hours though. Hope you all have a great week. I'll be linking up with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday.
